Annapurna Tilicho Lake Trekking - Adventurous- Spiritual- Lagoon

 

Sitting at an altitude of 4,970 meters, the Tilicho Lake trekking is one of the most challenging and rewarding trek adventures of a lifetime. The Tilicho Lake has a distinct emerald glow in its waters. It takes you through the lowland village’s home to the Brahmin, and chhetri community stretching as far as the Manang valley. This highest lake trekking journey takes you across awe-inspiring river valleys, high mountains, and mountain passes, glaciers, temples and monasteries.

Your 16 days Annapurna Tilicho lake trekking begins as soon as your reach jagat, and go as far as Chame. From here you will drive to the village of Chame and the trek to the Thorong La pass via Manang. Make way towards the sapphire clear waters of the Tilicho Lake to get a mesmerizingly memorable sight to be cherished forever. Cross the Thorong las pass and reach downwards towards the sacred Muktinath significant to both the hindus and buddhist followers. After getting a spiritually blessed feeling you will trek as far as jomsom and then fly back to Pokahara. Here before you wind up your journey you get time to get the everlasting views of Annapurna range, the Dhaulagiri range and the Manaslu Himalayas. Day to Day Itinerary

Day 01            - You will be flying to the Tribhuwan International Airport, in Kathmandu. Upon arrival you will be greeted by our airport representative at the arrival gate. The representative will then transfer to your destined hotel safely.  Also if you arrive earlier then the scheduled time, after resting for a while, you can visit the surrounding places of the city at your own pace.You will be staying at the hotel in a relaxed atmosphere to prepare for your next day’s journey. 

Day 02 Drive from Kathmandu to Jagat (1100m)

After getting a good sleep and rest, you will have a quick breakfast and prepare for a drive from Kathmandu, and reach up to Jagat which is at an altitude of (1100m). It will take around 8 hours to be here.

 Day 03 Chamje to Bagarchhap (2060m approx)

The following day you will be walking steadily following the trail that leads to the Marshyangdi River, and reach a less frequented village of Tai. You will cross this village that lies in the Manang district and progressively ascend leaving the flat valley behind, and reach up to Dharapani. This is a typical Tibetan village where chortens and fluttering flags can be clearly seen. As we keep moving, we finally reach the village of Bagarchhap, for overnight rest.

Day 04 Bagarchhap to Chame (2610m approx)

The next day dawns with a promise of beautiful trails written all over it as you head towards the village of Chame. The route ahead is loaded with rough and rocky trails and continues through to the dense forests near the river that leads to Kopar. Moving on you will be greeted by the splendid views of the picturesque Annapurna along with the popular hot springs of this region. You will spend your night here for the next days trail

Day 05 Chame to Pisang (3000m approx)

You will start your day by trekking through a dense forest that is steep and passes through a narrow valley. Further you will be crossing the river via a long bridge with a view of the mighty Paunda rock looking at you out of nowhere. The trail from here ascends upwards that culminates in Pisang.

Day 06 Pisang to Manang (3400m)

The next day we again start our trekking routine and try to reach the Manang district. It is a dry terrain, home to yak herders and crops cultivator. People of this region herd yaks and raise crops for certain parts of the year. Leaving Pisang, we make a cross over until we reach the village of Bryanga. We stay overnight here.

Day 07 Manang- Acclimatization Day

This day is meant for rest and relaxation. We take this opportunity to recharge our batteries and spend our time sightseeing by going in and the village and hiking along the landscape. After having seen all the wonderful sights we return back to our hotel or guesthouse.

Day 08 Manang to Siri Kharka (4000m),

From Manang we follow the path down to the river; we continue walking until we reach the village of Kangsar. From here we will ascend up to reach up to Siri Kharka from where the views of mountian peaks are visible that is soothing to the eyes and mind.

Day 09 Siri Kharka to Tilicho Base Camp (4110m approx).

Today we will be following the path of Siri Kharka that lead us up to the Tilicho Base Camp which is a steep walk and gets narrower throughout as it’s an area where frequent landslides occur.Howoever it also has excellent rock formations along the trail. We will be spending the night here preparing for the next day.

Day 10 Visit the Tilicho Lake (4,949m) then back to Siri Kharka,

The 10th day brings in excitement and is significantly one of the most awaited days of all. We will be crossing the tough ascents, steep inclines, watersheds, enjoying yak herders we reach the mesmerizing Tilicho Lake. This important lake is one of the most revered lakes and is holy and sacred to the followers of the Hindu religion. Getting a good look around the lake is ideal and is valuable too. After spending quality time observing the charm of the lakes we then retire back to our accomdations for the next day trek.

Day 11 Siri Kharka to Yak Kharka (4040m)

Leaving Siri Kharka we will make be descending down towards the Khangsar Village. As we move along the trail we will come across ancient monasteries which are significant from the local people's point of view. Passing on we reach the Khangsar village, and from there we reach out to the Thorang Khola valley. Crossing the river, we will make a good ascend and keep moving up until we finally reach a place called Yak Kharka. We rest here overnight.

Day 12 Yak Kharka to Phedi or High Camp (4600m)

Today, the trail is all about descends at the start, and after a short time it ascends to Phedi. It is here we take rest for next day’s preparation to trek further.

Day 13 Phedi or High Camp to Muktinath (3710m)

We leave Phedi for Thorong La Pass. It is a steep climb along a trail and at times the altitude and snow can pose a difference if the pass is snow covered. As you reach the top you will notice inscribed chortens, and fluttering prayer flags. At the top splendid panoramic views of the mountainous terrain gives you an amazing feel.

Day 14 Trek to Jomsom (2713m)

 Today you will be visiting the sacred Muktinath temple early in the morning. It is a  holy site significant for both the Buddhist and Hindu religion followers. Here you will notice 108 water taps, with a belief attached to it that taking a bath frees oneself from all the committed sin in the previous life. Further you will also get to see an eternal holy flame that never goes off. From here we trek back towards Jomsom via the Jharkot village. We wind up our trek for the day here.

Day 15 Fly from Jomsom to Pokhara (920m)

From Jomsom we catch a flight to Pokahara

Day 16 Pokhara to Kathmandu

Once we are in Pokhara we board a bus or a private vehicle to drive back to Kathmandu

Day 17 Final departure

The 17th day is your last day in Nepal. Our airport representative will escort you to the airport safely. You will be taking back good memories of Nepal and fly back home.

Nepal entry visa: You can get on arrival visas at Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu. (a multiple-entry tourist visa good for 30 days can be obtained by paying US $ 40 or equivalent foreign currency. Similarly, multiple-entry tourist visas for 90 days can be obtained by paying US $ 100. Please bring 2 copies of passport-size photos.)

Tips for trekking staff and driver

Departure Note

The Trekking companies are never responsible for any problems due to weather, damages of property, etc. However, we will manage and support you to the best of our abilities with any problem that may arise.  Transportation to and from Pokhara can be delayed due to weather conditions and delays may last up to several days.  It is best to book flights to and from Kathmandu with a several day margin to avoid missing a flight back to your home country.  If flights go smoothly, we will help arrange activities for you during your margin days.  In the case that you have a tight schedule and the transportation is delayed, it is possible to take a helicopter flight back to Kathmandu for an additional cost.
